| Noise Assessments (Noise
at Work Regulations 2005)
Noise can be defined as
unwanted sound. The "unwanted" aspect of noise may be because of damage
to hearing, annoyance or many other reasons.
The aim
of a Noise Survey is to identify those members of staff who are exposed
to noise levels at or above action levels as defined by the Control of
Noise at Work Regulations 2005.
The regulations
require, amongst other things:
- risk assessment
- elimination or,
where elimination is not reasonably practicable, reduction of
exposure to noise to as low a level as is reasonably practicable
- health
surveillance
- information,
instruction and training.
What can we do for you ?
Ensure that a competent
person makes an adequate noise assessment which identifies employees at
risk and provides information on the steps to be taken which may be
appropriate to reduce noise levels. Keep records of the
assessment, review the assessment periodically and assist in reducing
the noise levels and risks from such noise levels.
